Researchers from the AHE-Ro project participated in the international Humboldt Conference titled Between Ruptures and Persistence: The Question of Dis-/Continuities in the History of Southeastern Europe, held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, from September 29 to October 2, 2024. The event, organized in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies and supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, provided a platform for interdisciplinary exploration of historical continuities and ruptures in Southeastern Europe. The AHE-Ro team actively contributed to discussions that aligned with their research focus on the socio-political and educational transformations in the region.
In their panel contributions, the AHE-Ro researchers tackled themes such as transitions in access to higher education and the broader societal implications of post-communist transformations. Presentations highlighted the evolving patterns of university accessibility in Romania after 1990, drawing comparisons between planned economies and market liberalization.
